    by Jason Vitug

A personal note from Jason Vitug, founder of phroogal.com: Taking care of someone’s loved furry family member is serious business.

If you’re looking to become a sitter or use Wag as a side hustle, ask yourself if you have the time, patience and space to do so. Taking care of people’s loved pets is a serious business. This isn’t for the casual person who wants to make a quick buck. You have to really love being around animals and give them the attention the owners are paying for.

If you’re looking to use Wag to find a sitter, my recommendation is to vet your sitter and be thorough in your evaluation. The platform helps you do so with reviews and ratings. But do your own due-diligence. Before leaving your pets with anyone, meet them, talk to them, look at the environment your dog will be staying in, and ask a ton of questions. Gauge responses and demeanor of the sitter. Also, make sure you’re clear about your dog’s requirements, whether or not they can get along with other dogs, need medication, or any other needs.
