How to Join True North Federal Credit Union

True North Federal Credit Union membership eligibility includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • All employees and retirees of the State of Alaska
  • Boards and Commissions of the State Of Alaska
  • All public employees represented by and employees of Unions affiliated with public and State Government, including but not limited to ASEA, APEA and Local 71
  • All public employees who participate in PERS, Public Employees Retirement System and TRS, Teachers Retirement System
  • Persons who live, work, worship, attend school, volunteer, or participate in associations headquartered in the Fairbanks North Star Borough
  • Persons who live or work within a 5-mile radius of the Skagway, Alaska Post Office
  • Persons who live, work, worship, attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located within the Juneau Borough
  • Employees and volunteers of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Diocesan Council of Southeast Alaska who work in Juneau, Alaska.
  • Members of the Southeast Alaska Financial Opportunity Association in Juneau, Alaska
  • Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located within the following prescribed underserved community, as in the “investment area” definition of Section 109(c)(2) of the Federal Credit Union Act: “The area made up of the following six contiguous Alaskan boroughs or census areas located in the Alaska Panhandle.”
  • Employees of partner companies who work or have headquarters in Anchorage, Juneau, Douglas, or Fairbanks, Alaska.
  • Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located within the following prescribed underserved community, as in the “investment area” definition of Section 109(c)(2) of the Federal Credit Union Act: “The area made up of the following six contiguous Alaskan boroughs or census areas located in the northern rural Alaska.”
  • Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located within the following prescribed underserved community, as in the “investment area” definition of Section 109(c)(2) of the Federal Credit Union Act: “The area made up of the following ten contiguous Alaskan boroughs or census areas located in the southeast rural Alaska.”
  • Spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union; employees of this credit union; persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from the above employment; members’ immediate families or households; organizations of such persons, and of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Diocesan Council of Southeast Alaska, Juneau, Alaska; and corporate or other legal entities in this charter.
  • Persons who live, work (or regularly conduct business in), worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in NCUA-defined underserved community (Anchorage, Alaska). The underserved community meets the underserved “investment area” definition of Section 109(c)(2) of the Federal Credit Union Act. (
