Military credit unions offer banking products and services that specifically help servicemembers and military families. This is the most updated list of military-focused credit unions, but many have expanded their membership to allow others to join.

The benefit of joining a credit union for military is that it understands the life of servicemembers. Because of this, you get tailored assistance and guidance. The CU will be better equipped to understand deployment, transfers and relocations, and transitions that are unique to servicemembers, families, and the military community.

Navy Federal Credit Union was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Vienna, VA. It manages over $170 billion and serves over 13.3 million members. Membership includes current and retired members of the armed forces, their families and household members, Department of Defense personnel, and others.

2. PenFed

PenFed was founded in 1935. Its headquarters are in Tysons, VA. The credit union manages over $34.8 billion in assets and serves over 2.9 million members. Today, membership is open to everyone.

3. RBFCU

RBFCU was founded in 1952. It’s headquartered in Live Oak, TX, manages over $18 billion in assets, and serves over 1.1 million members. There are over 4,000 ways to become a member.

4. Security Service Federal Credit Union

Security Service FCU was founded in 1956. It’s headquartered in San Antonio, TX and manages $13.4 billion in assets and serves over 775,200 members. Membership is open to those who live or work in Texas, Utah, and Colorado.

5. Wright-Patt Credit Union

Wright-Patt CU was founded in 1932. It’s headquartered in Beavercreek, OH, manages over $8.3 billion in assets, and serves over 503,000 members. Membership is open to military and civilian employees of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and military personnel residing in a 14-county area adjacent to the Fairborn area who do not have a credit union available.

Service CU was founded in 1957. It’s headquartered in Portsmouth, NH, manages over $5.5 billion in assets and serves over 354,000 members. Membership is open to active duty military, veterans and their families.

7. Tinker Federal Credit Union

Tinker FCU was founded in 1946. It’s headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK, manages over $6 billion in assets and serves over 461,000 members. Membership is open to military or civilian personnel who work at Tinker Air Force Base, Vance Air Force Base, an Army National Guard facility, or the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Oklahoma.

8. Travis Credit Union

Travis CU was founded in 1951. It’s headquartered in Vacaville, CA, manages over $4.9 billion in assets and serves over 249,000 members. Membership is open to military and civilian personnel of Travis Air Force Base.

9. Rally Credit Union

Rally CU was founded in 1955. It’s headquartered in Corpus Christi, TX, manages over $4.3 billion in assets, and serves over 221,000 members. Membership now open to those who live, work, worship, or go to school in any of the select South Texas counties.

10. Keesler Federal Credit Union

Keesler FCU was founded in 1947. It’s headquartered in Biloxi, MS, manages over $4.1 billion in assets, and serves over 318,000 members. Military who can use the services at Keesler Air Force Base or at Royal Air Force Bases in the UK.

11. AmeriCU

AmeriCU was founded in 1978. It’s headquartered in Rome, NY, manages over $2.7 billion in assets, and serves over 160,000 members. Membership is open to active and retired from military service, along with anyone who lives or works in 24 counties in New York.

12. Andrews Federal Credit Union

Andrews FCU, founded in 1948, has its headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. It manages over $2.3 billion in assets and serves over 131,000 members. Membership is open to military members and other employer groups.

13. Marine Federal Credit Union

Marine FCU was founded in 1959. It’s headquartered in Jacksonville, NC, manages over $953 million in assets, and serves over 81,000 members. Membership is open to active and retired military service members and immediate family.

14. Soarion Credit Union

Soarian CU was founded in 1952. It’s headquartered in San Antonio, TX, manages over $663.5 million in assets, and serves over 54,000 members. Membership is open to active duty members, reservists, veterans, retirees, or dependent of a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard residing or working in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Mississippi.

15. Sentinel FCU

Sentinel Federal Credit Union was founded in 1955. It’s headquartered in Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, manages over $165 million in assets, and serves over 9,000 members. Membership is open to those who live, work, worship, or go to school in, or are a business or other legal entity located in the designated South Dakota counties.
